Men’s Shed – EDCCA
EDCCA’s Men’s Shed opened at the end of 2023, thanks to the support of Easingwold Town Football Club, who kindly allowed us to place a modular building alongside their club and use their facilities. The location is ideal, with on-site parking, an adjacent bus stop, and within walking distance of the town centre.
Our Men’s Shed joins a growing network of over 900 Men’s Sheds across the UK, providing spaces for connection, creativity, and practical activity.
What is a Men’s Shed?
After retirement or major life changes, it’s common to feel a little lost or miss the social connections of work and community. Men’s Shed provides a friendly community space, primarily for older men, to rebuild social connections, enjoy company, and engage in shared activities—whether practical, creative, or just for conversation.
There are regular opening hours, but as a member, you can attend as often or as little as you like. You might come to every session to work on a project, or simply drop by for a coffee and a chat. No prior experience or interest in practical activities is required—companionship is welcome.
What can you do at the Men’s Shed?
Our shed includes a workshop and a meeting room, offering a wide range of activities:
Workshop activities may include:
-
Furniture restoration
-
Garden objects (bird boxes, planters, etc.)
-
Upcycling or repurposing old items
-
Wood turning, carving, and upholstery
-
Electronics projects
-
Simple metalwork
Meeting room activities may include:
-
Model making (kits or self-built)
-
Art, painting, drawing, or graphic projects
-
Playing or refurbishing musical instruments
-
Computer-based projects
-
Puzzles, reading, or marquetry
The Shed can truly be whatever you want to make it—a space for creating, learning, socialising, or simply enjoying company.
